Functional, interactive design.Three words that mean more to us than you'd think.

Above all else, the application has to work. And it has to work real good. That’s half the battle. The other half is how it looks. It has to look good. Real good. We design and handcraft each piece of all screens, ensuring every detail gets the proper attention. We work on all our projects with this same care and scrutiny, with the objective of creating the best user experience for the target market. In the end, our websites do what they are designed to do, as best as they possibly can, with the most useful combination of technology available at the time.

Our Work

Original Concepts

Not all of our great ideas are chosen. Here are some of the other concepts we presented and discussed with the client.

Project Overview

Rareview, an award-winning interactive agency, designed and built the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy website. Aside from pen and paper, and creative thought, we used the following applications and technologies to complete the project:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • XHTML/CSS
  • Javascript (jQuery)
  • AJAX
  • Classic ASP
  • Flash/XML
  • Actionscript 3

The front-end was developed in XHTML/CSS, Flash, Jquery and AJAX. Flash was used to create the homepage timeline, various other elements like the picture slideshows, and the locations map. The back-end was developed using Classic ASP. We built a custom Content Management System (CMS) that is also built in ASP. We integrated their existing Ultracart shopping cart for ecommerce.

About Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy

In 1978, Rorion Gracie, Helio's eldest son, left Brazil and came to the United States to share his father's techniques with the rest of the world. Upon his arrival, he immediately noticed that most Americans had no appreciation for jiu-jitsu's effectiveness. Even those with knowledge of martial arts confused his family's system with the traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu that had been in America since the 1950s. In order to emphasize the distinction between the two disciplines, Rorion trademarked the name "Gracie Jiu-Jitsu."
